When I first started affiliate marketing, I thought I could figure out everything on my own. Some things came easy but most things were hard to find out. The truth is, affiliate marketing requires gathering tons of information and knowledge about multiple strategies and then testing them to see what works. Sometimes it can be very difficult to take everything in at once. This is when you have to step back and take the "Rome wasn't built in a day" approach. The thing that gets people in trouble with affiliate marketing is that most people are too anxious (Including Myself) at the beginning stages and expect to make tons of money a day or two after launching their first campaign promoting a product that fits their business without even knowing what they are selling. Imagine not knowing how to swim and jumping into rough waters. This is exactly how it's like because not only will you get pulled in different directions, you will also get into serious trouble. Bottom line is, affiliate marketing can bring you a fortune. It won't happen overnight but if you suck it up and grind it out you will eventually achieve your goal!
PPC (Pay Per Click) ADVERTISING: THE ROUGH WATER YOU SHOULD AVOID
Please, if you are going to take anything that I say serious then it's this. Stay away from PPC until you have made some money using other free methods of advertising and gained some knowledge. Don't get me wrong, programs and sites like Google Adwords are great tools, but they are tools used best by people and marketers who can afford to drop hundreds of dollars. Plenty of people think they can throw $50.00 or $100.00 dollars into PPC marketing like a slot machine and multiply their money. WRONG! Wouldn't it absolutely stink if you dropped $300.00 dollars advertising to only convert just a few sales or referrals that wouldn't even cover the charges? Been there and done that, so please take my word for it. Treat PPC like the rough waters because they can put you in a huge hole faster than you can imagine. When you have the resources and proper knowledge there's nothing more powerful than PPC advertising, but for now leave it to the pro's rookie! You will have your time in the future!
THE PROPER APPROACH: PROPER LEADS TO PROSPER
Ok, So what should you be doing? Free article publishing sites like Ezine Articles and Squidoo are a great way to start your marketing campaigns. Writing a few articles here and there can lead you to a fortune down the road. Join some forums that deal with your product and try to market there. Write blogs about your products or programs and please be honest. Never try to promote or sell anything you know nothing about! Don't spam forums or article sites either with over flowing ads. You want to personally advise people on what works and what doesn't. When you earn the customer's or reader's trust, they will also trust your product. If you don't care about anything but sales, people will pick up on it and you will be heading down the path to no where. Relate to your customers with your own experiences and most importantly, help them when they ask for it!
